OUCH!

Posted on

This will be short and sweet, as I should be leaving for church in less than 30 minutes and am currently sitting here in a t-shirt, no makeup, no breakfast inside of me.

Yesterday at the childbirth class, the teacher asked everyone if they get Charlie Horses. It seemed like everyone nodded or say “Oh yea.” Now, I’d heard of those things, but I wasn’t sure I’d ever had one.

Cameron looked at me and gave me a questioning look. I shook my head “no” since I never get them.

Then he leaned over and said, “It’s probably because you’re really active and walk all the time.”

Fast forward to three hours ago, it’s 5:00 am, and my doggone right calf muscle totally cramps up!

“CAM! CAM! I think it’s a Charlie Horse!”

Poor, sweet thing… he rolls over, kisses my tummy, and massages my leg for a few minutes until it stops hurting.

It helped me to fall back to sleep, but it’s very stiff this morning.

What the heck is happening to me? That was the worst! I’m hoping that was a one-time thing because we were sitting ALL DAY yesterday. I will NOT add that to my “list of symptoms” just yet. I refuse.

  1. Bethany, I got a terrible one when I was pregnant with my first. I mentioned it to my Ob-Gyn at the time and he told me to drink a bottle of gatorade daily throughout the end of the pregnancy. I never got another charlie horse again and also drank gatorade in my second pregnancy and never had one during that pregnancy either. I believe it is that your electrolytes are out of whack during pregnancy and hope this tips helps you, too. And so very happy to follow you back now!! 🙂

  2. I haven’t had one except when I was expecting (I had one w/three out of four kids). Thankfully they weren’t common, those suckers hurt! I saw you linked up at SSS and came to visit. 🙂

  4. Oh my gosh, I used to get those too when I was pregnant – around the same time as you did at night and in my calf muscle! Those are soooo painful. I started eating a banana or two before bed and that really helped!
