My Products During Pregnancy

Posted on

Throughout this pregnancy, I have gotten lots of advice about which products to use for which ailments/symptoms.

I tried a lot of different things, and THESE are the ones that I really appreciated and used. If you’re just starting out, keep in mind that there are lots of options out there! These are just my preferences. 🙂

My least favorite thing in the world? Heartburn. I’d never had it until I got pregnant, and it is just awful.

The second thing that kept me up at night was numb hands. One thing that actually helped was using wrist braces. It kept me aware of my wrist position, even if I was asleep.

Braces, Supports & Rehabilitation Products

In order to prevent stretch marks, a colleague gave me this product from Mama Mio. It’s really oily, but it feels great and smells nice. So far, no stretch marks! I’m around week 37, so I think I’m all good at this point!

Along the same lines, I have started to apply Lansinoh’s Lanolin to my boobs. It’s supposed to soothe and heal sore nipples after breastfeeding, but I’ve heard it can also help to toughen you up before you even start. So occasionally, I will use that just to get into the habit. 🙂

Throughout my pregnancy, you may have seen my workout posts. I did Crossfit throughout the whole thing. And I loved my Reebok Crossfit shoes. They were bright and colorful. And since Crossfit incorporates a lot of weightlifting, it’s important that the bottoms of the shoes are flat. If you’re trying to do squats, and you’re already on your toes a little (if the shoes have too much cushion), then you’re setting yourself up to fall forward. Reebok teamed up with CF to make a whole line of products. After I have the baby, I’ll stock up on some CF gear!

Here’s a picture of me, wearing my Reebok CF shoes. And then there’s a link where you can get some, too. 🙂

Those were the main things that kept me happy and sane!

What were your favorite pregnancy products?

Hanging around DC after work! Thanks to my handsome husband for taking the nice pictures. I am super picky, but he took enough so I could find a few that I liked. 🙂

Just 3 more weeks (maybe less!) – then no more “maternity outfit” posts. Woooowee.

Maternity Outfit at 36 Weeks

Posted on

Many of my outfits these days are the same as the week before and the week before that. I’m starting to lose focus in the “clever ensembles” part of my brain.

Here’s one thing I wore this week!

in front of black gateI’m not sure why I look so uncomfortable. Oh now I remember! I WAS uncomfortable! I was worried people were going to walk by and stare. My feet and legs were hurting. And my stomach was really tight.

We were on the way to dinner the night before Mother’s Day. 🙂

During dinner, it had started raining. I also changed shoes (the walk is just under a mile, so heels weren’t going to work for the 2nd mile).

Cardigan: H&M

I have a black and white dress I’ll wear this week to work. So when the time comes, I’ll post that one, too. 🙂

Maternity Photo Shoot!

Posted on

Last Saturday (May 4), my husband Cameron and I had a maternity photo shoot done. It took a few hours. We started in our apartment in Georgetown DC, then we made our way to this beautiful home and gardens (to find some nature in a big city) and did a ton of shooting there. And the photographer, Erica, took some more photos on the way home. 🙂

You’re probably thinking, “Isn’t that the same outfit she wore to her baby shower?” Well yes it is. But it was also the same day. So there!

There were about 200 pictures total. I picked around 30 to turn into a Facebook album. And now I’ve picked just a handful for you guys to see, too. Enjoy!

*standing by windowIn our apartment

*sitting on steps again 2Okay, my husband is seriously adorable. Here is more info about him, by the way. 🙂

*white and blackI think this one is very…sweet.

OUTFIT CHAAAANGE!

*she is hugeHe is probably surprised at how huge I am.

*staring at meI like to see him looking at me. 🙂

*leaning on camThis was on the walk home from the gardens… the last shot of the day.

Drumroll…. MY personal favorite picture of the whole bunch!

*under the crystals

I hope you enjoyed these. It will be fun to look back at them in a few months when I’m not pregnant, and I can say to the baby, “Hey look baby. You’re in all of these pictures.” And he’ll be like, “Oh cool.”

Obligatory Outfit Post (About 36 Weeks)

Date: Tuesday, May 7, 2013
Pregnancy: 35 weeks, 5 days

I was starting to get real tired of the same outfits recently. So Cameron let me get a few new things. This dress is really sweet with its flared sleeves (not sure the technical term) and the eyelets at the neckline. It’s also a nice color (royal blue?).

Dress: Old Navy maternity
Earrings: Forever 21
Shoes: Mariana by Golc (from Zappos)

Side shotI just do not know how to smile in pictures anymore…

The earringsMint is the hot color, right now, right?

SilhouetteI thought this was kind of cool-looking because it’s sort of a silhouette? Sort of.

If you have an opinion about the SHOTS, let me know! I’m not great at figuring out the best angles right now. I posted a whole bunch this time so that, after some feedback, NEXT time, I can limit it to the best ones. I just don’t quite know what they are!

Obligatory Outfit Post (Just Under 35 Weeks)

Posted on

Date: April 30, 2013
Pregnancy: 34 weeks, 5 days

Sorry for the self pictures! Cameron likes to work out in the morning, before I’m dressed for work. Darn him!

Also, sorry that I didn’t smile more. I look weird when I smile first thing in the morning; my eyes are all puffy, and my face looks extra big. So this works better!

Cardigan: Urban Outfitters (brand is Silence + Noise)
Shirt: Old Navy maternity
Jeans: Motherhood Maternity
Boots: Nine West
Earrings: Forever 21
Necklace: a gift from my mama (one of the few pieces of REAL jewelry I own :))

Pants are starting to get a tiny bit snug these days. I know that’s how it goes, but I ordered some new dresses this week (I hope they’ll be worn AFTER the baby’s born, too).

I don’t have a lot to choose from anymore; most of my wardrobe makes me feel …. yucky. This is a good one, IMHO.
